چکیده

We present a numerical method, based on a three-dimensional finite volume wave-propagation algorithm, for solving the Vlasov equation in a full six-dimensional (three spatial coordinates, three velocity coordinates) case in length scales comparable to the size of the Earth’s magnetosphere. The method uses Strang splitting to separate propagation in spatial and velocity coordinates, and is second-order accurate in spatial and velocity spaces and in time. The method has been implemented on general-purpose graphics processing units for faster computations and has been parallelised using the message passing interface. 2013 Elsevier B.V. Implementation of the direction of arrival estimation algorithms by means of GPU-parallel processing in the Kuda environment (Research Article)

Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of audio signals is critical in different areas, including electronic war, sonar, etc. The beamforming methods like Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR), Delay-and-Sum (DAS), and subspace-based Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) are the most known DOA estimation techniques. The mentioned methods have high computational complexity. Hence using...

GAMER: a GPU-Accelerated Adaptive Mesh Refinement Code for Astrophysics

We present the newly developed code, GAMER (GPU-accelerated Adaptive MEsh Refinement code), which has adopted a novel approach to improve the performance of adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) astrophysical simulations by a large factor with the use of the graphic processing unit (GPU). The AMR implementation is based on a hierarchy of grid patches with an oct-tree data structure. We adopt a three-d...

Accelerating high-order WENO schemes using two heterogeneous GPUs

A double-GPU code is developed to accelerate WENO schemes. The test problem is a compressible viscous flow. The convective terms are discretized using third- to ninth-order WENO schemes and the viscous terms are discretized by the standard fourth-order central scheme. The code written in CUDA programming language is developed by modifying a single-GPU code. The OpenMP library is used for parall...

An approach to Improve Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm Using CUDA

The time consumption in solving computationally heavy problems has always been a concern for computer programmers. Due to simplicity of its implementation, the PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) is a suitable meta-heuristic algorithm for solving computationally heavy problems. However, despite the simplicity, the algorithm is inefficient for solving real computationally heavy problems but the pr...

Stochastic Simulations with Graphics Hardware: Characterization of Accuracy and Performance

Methods to implement stochastic simulations on the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) have been developed. These algorithms are used in a simulation of micro and nano assembly with optical tweezers, but are also directly compatible with simulations of a wide variety of assembly techniques using either electrophoretic, magnetic or other trapping techniques. Significant speedup is possible for stocha...
